Children on H4 Visa

I am a H1B visa holder and reside in the US with my family for 8 years now, while I await my Priority date to become current. All this while, my kids have been with me on H4 status. My question is whether my kids are eligible to apply for a Green Card just because they have been in the US at a stretch for last 8 years? It was something I heard from a friend and wanted to check on this forum whether it was true.
