Cousin mentally unstable, help needed.

Hi,

I have a 25 year old cousin hospitalized in New York since police caught him mentally unstable. His parents are here from India, and we visited him at the hospital, but the doctors are not revealing any information on his status or his diagnosis or what treatment they are giving him. Is there any way as a parent they can seek Indian embassy's help to intervene and ask hospital to provide such information ? They are inclined to take him back to India for treatment, but the Doctor are refusing to discharge him unless the patient co-operates. Please advice on what would be the best thing to do in this situation.
