New Social Security Number

Our whole family became victim to a burglary and vandalism. In this process all our private information, everything, was stolen. The person that did this is in procession of all the information needed to open up credit cards, bank accounts etc. in our name and misuse it. Is there any way we can get a new social security number? It seems that this would be the safest way for us to be protected.
