  • QUESTION : About new Immigrant Petitioned Visa -- Please reply.. Need Help Asap

First of all, sorry if i post this here.. i dont know where to post it so i juz chose this thread since it's very similar to my inquiries..

Inquiry about petitioned immigrant ... Our daughter in the States petitioned her parents already and has been granted.....
Our documents have already been submitted to National Visa Center...Medical had been processed... Interview, likewise is finished...

We've been given at least 3 months before going to the States, since we're gonna live for good in USA, we will be bringing a lot of our things there like jewelries, ******* utensils, some food for pasalubong, beauty products so we won't be buying there anymore etc....

    1. what are the things allowed and not allowed to enter USA? jewelries are allowed?, lotion, shampoo, toothpaste (which came from there too from our family member living in the states), dried fishes for pasalubong, chocolates from the States too which were sent to us also, perfume, cologne?

    2. ******* utensils like pan, fork and spoon, knives, cups? allowed or not?

    3. Xoxo bags which were sent to us also from the States which we have not used.. the xoxo bags were bought from the Ross store...

    4. How many boxes for check in are allowed to enter the US? Do custom and immigration staff open it upon arrival? Any required kilos per box?

    5. What items should we declare in custom?

    6. How long do we need to stay in the US to acquire pension for senior citizens?

    7. How long do we need to stay before we petition a son?

    8. After entering the US, do we need to process our US Citizenship first before we are allowed to go back to the Philippines for a vacation? How long can we stay outside the US?

If there's anything you can add that can provide us with more information about Immigrant Visa, please let us know.... we will truly appreciate it very much..

    Thank you!!

These are customs questions, no immigration questions. Perhaps you can talk to someone at the US consulate, or if not perhaps talk to an airline ticketing agent about allowed items. A lot of food items will likely not be allowed.

When traveling to the USA, it's important to know what you can and cannot bring with you. Here’s a brief overview based on the items you've listed:

Jewelry - Generally allowed for personal use.
Lotion, Shampoo, Toothpaste - These are typically allowed, especially if they are for personal use and meet the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) liquid rules, if you're carrying them in your carry-on luggage (each container must be 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters or less and all containers must fit in a single, clear, quart-sized bag).
Dried Fish - This might be restricted, especially if it's not commercially packaged. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) often has strict regulations on bringing in meat, seafood, and agricultural products to prevent the introduction of pests and diseases.
Chocolates - Allowed, especially if they're commercially packaged and originally from the States.
Perfume and Cologne - Allowed, but also subject to TSA’s liquid rules if in your carry-on luggage.
For the lotions, shampoos, and toothpastes you mentioned, as long as they are within the TSA liquid requirements, you should have no problem bringing them into the USA. It's actually great to bring these items if they’re suited to your needs, such as a good shampoo for oily hair. Speaking of which, if you or someone you know is looking for a good shampoo for oily hair, I can recommend checking out this list of the best shampoos for oily hair, tested and reviewed best shampoo for oily hair. This might help you find a product that works wonderfully even in different climates and water types, like what you’d experience in the States.

Congratulations on the approval of your immigrant visa and your upcoming move to the United States! Here are some answers to your questions:

        1. Allowed items typically include personal belongings, clothing, and reasonable amounts of food for personal use. Jewelries, lotions, shampoos, toothpaste, dried fishes, chocolates, perfume, and cologne are generally allowed as long as they are for personal use and not for resale.

        2. Kiitchen utensils like pans, forks, spoons, and knives are generally allowed if they are for personal use and not intended as weapons.

        3. Unused bags like the Xoxo bags from Ross are typically allowed as personal belongings.

        4. The number of boxes you can bring depends on your airline's baggage policy. Customs and immigration staff may randomly inspect luggage upon arrival, but they typically do not open every box. There may be weight restrictions for each box, so it's best to check with your airline.

        5. You should declare any items that are not for personal use or are prohibited or restricted by customs regulations, such as large amounts of currency or certain agricultural products.

        6. The eligibility requirements for pension for senior citizens vary by state and program. You may need to establish residency and meet certain age and income requirements to qualify for benefits.

        7. The timing for petitioning a son depends on various factors, including your immigration status and your son's age and relationship to you. It's best to consult with an immigration attorney for personalized advice on this matter.

        8. You do not need to process your US citizenship before traveling outside the US for vacation. However, there are residency requirements for maintaining your green card status, so it's important to understand and comply with those requirements.

For more information about immigrant visas and the immigration process, you may want to consult the website of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) or speak with an immigration attorney. Safe travels and best wishes for your new life in the United States!
