Out of State Driving Ticket

Hello,

Here is the situation:

I live in Wisconsin and recently went to Las Vegas for vacation. I was travelling to Grand Canyon and was stopped by a cop. He told me that I was driving at 83 (I believe I was driving at 76). Anyways, I did not argue with him and he gave me a ticket for $195 which I need to pay. I have had clean driving record as of now.

I checked and found that Wisconsin does not enforce out of state tickets on its residents. Hence, I have following questions:

1. Do I have to pay this ticket?
2. If I do not pay it, will it cause problems while applying for Green Card or whenever I might need Police Clearance (State Vs Federal)?

Please advise.

1. What do you mean? Yes, of course you have to pay the ticket or contest it. You cannot just let it go as that will result in an arrest warrant for you. Many states have also started collection agencies for this kind of debt.
2. Yes, of course. You could be arrested as a result of the warrant.

Is $195 worth so much to risk your career and future? Shell it out or hire a lawyer and contest it.
