Hi,
Me and my brother have made a big blunder in our passport. Since childhood I never mentioned my last name in any forms other than the initial. But when it was time to apply for my passport for higher education, I approached my mom and asked her about our surname. She told my surname but did not spell it and I did not ask my dad about it and filed a wrong surname. Which sounds similar to my dads but the spelling is different since I used my own knowledge to write the surname which was my biggest mistake. Than I applied for my higher education got my F1 visa and wen to USA completed my eduction and also got my work permit in H1 visa. Now the big problem is If I want to sponsor my parents to visit the US I need to apply for their passport. My dad is a businessman and he has a pan card which has a different surname. I donno if I have to use that surname for my dad or use the one I mentioned in my passport ? Since the earlier would cause a problem when I apply for there visitors visa. What should I do? Is it possible for me to change my surname now(but I have my ssn, H1b, F1 everything with my current surname). I am very confused and need guidance on this.
Also my brother has a different surname in his school records. ( It was the schools mistake and they refused to rectify it and even my brother did not bother) Now he also applied for a passport with a different surname which does not match mine nor my dad's. Now he is also planning to get his higher education done in the USA and applied for colleges with a wrong surname.
Someone please advice in this chaotic situation.
