How to obtain a Birth Certificate?

Hello,
I am an Indian citizen and I don't have a valid Birth Certificate . Very lately I realized that it is an important document required in the process of applying for Green Card in USA.
Any idea how easy or difficult it is to obtain the same in India?

You will have to contact the gram panchayat/nagar palika/municipal corporation where you were born.

They should be able to give you birth certificate if your birth was recorded.

If not, you have to get the certificate saying birth not recorded and therefore, no such certificate can be issued. It is called no availability certificate. Additionally, you have to make affidavit too. Details at https://www.immihelp.com/sample-docu...s-immigration/
