  • locking home when travelling

I am planning to lock my home, a 2BHK individual house, in Chennai while our family temporarily moves to the US on L1 visa. We plan to come back and use it. Please share of any precautions to follow and if you have any specific experience doing the same. I am interested to know how to know the below.
    1. Handling Electricity connection, because the meter box is inside the premises, should I provide any letter to the EB office
    2. Handling dust, thinking of sealing all the windows with silicon sealant.
    3. Handling pests, thinking of sealing all the vents and sinks and apply pest control.
    4. Anything else?

When traveling, securing your home is essential to ensure peace of mind and protect your property. Start by locking all doors and windows, including less obvious entry points like garage doors or basement windows. Consider using deadbolts for added security and double-check that sliding doors are properly latched. Installing a smart security system with cameras, motion detectors, and door sensors can provide real-time alerts and remote monitoring. Timers for lights or smart bulbs can create the appearance of someone being home.

When you travel, home and pet safety are important considerations. Locking doors and windows helps to keep unwanted guests out of your home, and for my pet, I use a GPS dog fence. This electronic fence allows me to be sure that my dog is always safe, even when I am not around. Just like I carefully lock all the doors, the GPS fence helps me monitor my pet’s location and protection, giving me peace of mind while traveling.
