Hi all,
I recently got a mail from my bank requesting me to provide them with my TIN/SSN. They sent a W-9 form for me to fill out. On reading the instructions on how to fill the W-9 I read that the W-9 form should only be filled by a US citizen or a resident alien and everyone else should use the W-8 form. I am on H1 currently and have applied for my green card last year. Now my question is which form do I use. I believe that persons on H1 are considered as resident aliens for tax purposes, so I should use the W-9 form. Please correct me if I am wrong. Anyone who has any information on this please explain this to me.
