  • Return process of Consular attestation process

    Hello,
I live in Florida and i had sent the Misc application with notarized affidavit along with my original passport to the Indian Consulate, Houston on 24th Oct-11 for no objection for my son's passport, since then i have been trying to contact them daily for the status, but they are not taking the phone calls or replying to mails. their site says it takes 7 working days+ days in mail, but today it is more than 8 days since they should have dispatched my affidavit and my passport back. I am worried about my passport.
Can you please tell me what is the normal duration for the consulate to reply back for such requests and which of the service do they use for return mails(USPS/FedEX/DHL). I have sent $30 as money order, $20 for the return mail. I am thinking of personnaly going to Houston in the next week if i dont get my passport, but passport is my only ID, i still do not have my DL or state ID for verification at airport.
Please advice as i find myself in very tight situation.

    Thanks in advance
    regards
    Jerald

Got my Attested Affidavit and my passport back

    Hi there,
I got my passport and the attested affidavit for my minor kid back on 10th Nov. Iam very relieved now. I had sent the Amscot moneyorder to the consulate and enquiry thru Amscot told me that the moneyorder was cleared on 2nd Nov. The consulate sent the package back on 9th Nov through FedEx.
I assume that the consulate has huge queue to clear the attestation and other work and hence it takes some time to return our documents, and it is quite understandable, but what is peculiar is the consulate of India, a country which gives call center to the world, does not have a proper callcenter of its own to cater to its own people. I would write a mail to Nirupama Rao for this, dunno how much it will help though.
Anyways my advise for the people who want to get misc or any service from the consulate, if possible pls go personally, it is more reliable and comforting and the work will get over quickly too. If in case you have to send it through post, make sure that you have a US DL or StateID which can be used as a photoId needed for travel by Air.
Last but not the least Thanks to the staff of the consulate of India, Houston.
Glory to god in the highest.
