Has anyone filed for GC without lawyer?

Hi all,

I was curious if anyone has filed for GC without a lawyer?

I bought a guide online for filing GC in the category for EB1-A (extraordinary ability). The process seems very straightforward. Not that much harder that applying for an academic job. I would love to hear your experience if you or anyone else you know chose this route? If so, any pointers/advice?

Nah, no replies yet. I guess most don't go down that path.

The reason I did it was mainly because the lawyers did not seem very confident of success, and frankly, quite condescending (they put my chance of succeeding at 50-50).

I figured with those odds, there is really no point in paying a few grands to a lawyer. Besides, my field is so technical, most of the writing and grunt work would have to be done by me only. The lawyers just take care of the paperwork.

I filed NIW through a lawyer.
The idea of self filing acrossed my mind so I bought a DIY packet online.
But I was not confident enough to file it myself.
I know there were people filing themselves but I did not want to take the chance.
A friend of mine who filed himself had his case denied after 9 month waiting.
The processing time of NIW is so long that I can't afford filing a so-so case myself.
