  • Green Card Process

i am planning to start GreenCard process , My employer said he has lawyer and i need to pay all fee except perm fee, can i know whats the best thing, choosing a lawyer from outside? or employer preffered lawyer?

A qualified answer depends on how much money is involved. If the attorney fee is at or below "market" for that type of procedure, it shouldn't be a big deal. If it is much more, you're being hustled.

What is the "basis" for the I-485 application?

PERM is completly paid by employer.
      I-140 filing
$1500 payable to the lawyer ,
$580 payable to the department of homeland security .

      I-485
$500 for each applicant – payable to the lawyer
      $250 documentation & courier fee – lawyer
$1070 for each application – pay to department of homeland security
$700 for dependants under 14 years of age.

i am going to get married in 3 months going to home country, shall i start process after getting marry or before that , is there any difference. and also please recommend me the lawyer , is it ok employer lawyer?

        Green Card

do we need to check the employer's greencard petitions history also? my employer applies lot of H1B s and good rating on those, but i checked on Green Crads history in myvisajobs.com it seems like not that good, does employer has seperate history or ratings for GreenCards than H1B ratings? how it works, let me know.

          Vicky,

If you are the only person being processed by the attorney for the I-140 and I-485, the fees quoted are comparable, about mid-range, for most immigration attorneys.

I can't address the skill or history of the employer-selected attorney, but if other employees of the same company have used him and the job got done properly, a known track record of an attorney is better than starting with a new attorney to try and shave a couple hundred dollars.

            Greencard for parents

I'm applying for a greencard for my mom. I live in NJ. Once she's here in the US though, would it be ok for her to live with my brother in Seattle WA if she wants to? Or would she need to live in NJ only because the application is filed by a NJ-based relative?

After arrival in the U.S., your mom can live anywhere she wants, but should report her address change within 10 days after moving.
