On L1 PERM filed and converting visa to H1.

My employer has filed my PERM and am on L1 visa. I am planning to apply for H1 (From same employer or a sponsor). Will I have to redo the PERM application if my visa changes from L1 to H1. Will the priority date remain the same?

As far as I'm aware, PERM is for future employment so irrespective of your visa type it should remain unaffected.
