GC Filing and Company Acquision

I have been working with my current company for a year now. They are willing to file for my GC. The problem is that my company is going to be acquired in the next couple of months and our office may eventually move from Palo Alto to some where else nearby. I checked with the company lawyer and she was suggesting to wait till the acquisition to finish so that there is no change in the company address. Otherwise the GC process will have to be started again. I just wanted to get another opinion because there could be a case where a GC application has already been filed for a year or two and then the compnay gets acquired. Can you please let me know if I can still go ahead and start my GC process in this scenario? My company does not have any trouble in applying for me as I have to pay the money involved. I am currently on H1B visa with 1.5 years on it.
