  • Green card application questions

    Hello,

I am gathering info to start my GC application. I would appreciate if anyone could answer couple of my questions:

    1. Is it true that my employer has to post job opening (for my position) in newspapers and test labor market for a period of 6 months??

    2. My lawyer is asking 10,000 to help me through this process. Is she ripping me off or is that generally what they charge.

    Thanks much for your help!!

    Advertisements-$1000

Total Attorney Fees for Labor Certification [with Perm Request] Based Green Card Processing are $4,000.00 for Principal Alien + $200.00 for Each Additional Family Member + Expenses (including, but not limited to, courier charges, photocopying, miscellaneous office handling charges - between $150.00 to $250.00, depending upon the work done)

    INS Filing Fee
I-140 Immigrant Petition For Alien Worker-$195.00
    I-485 Application To Adjust Status-$325.00
    Fingerprints-$70.00
I-131 Application For Travel Document (Advance Parole)-$170.00
I-765 Application For Employment Authorization (EAD)-$180.00

Total cost would be around $6000 + the stress of waiting for the GC (free)

No. I believe its three consecutive days, one of which must be a Sunday.
Although $10, 000.00 sounds alittle high, $4000.00 is on the low end. There is no "standard" fee. Each attorney sets their own fee and charges according to their experience, and location. An attorney in a small rural town will be far less than on e say located in New York or Washington D.C..
