can I peacefully wait at this time?

I have applied for my H1b extn(Apr'02) and lawyers have filed for LCA & AP since my H1 expires this June '02. Also my FP is completed on Feb '02 and waiting for my I485 approval(GC). Can anyone suggest if I need to do anything at this time? Would it require me to apply for my I-94 extn? or any thing else, since I intend to travel internationally?? Pls advise!

If you have done you FP, I am sure you have got your EAD. The EAD authorised you to work. If your H! is expiring then you have to apply for Advance Parole which is a card that allows you to travel in and out of the country.

AP is valid for 1 year only, if your AOS is not done in 1 year, you have to apply again for a new AP (That's if you intend on travelling - otherwise not nessary).

Reading the above comments, I have few questions...If AP is required only for travelling does that mean that if u have ur EAD and working here in US, u cannot leave US until u get ur GC?
Also, I would be very thankful if someone can give me a link to the glossary (FP, AP, AOS etc)

If you leave the US while your I-485 is pending, it is considered abandoned. AP (Advance Parole) is an authorization to allow you to leave the country while the I-485 is pending (parole in legal language).
AOS is the abbreviation of the I-485 form: Adjustment of Status. FP is of course fingerprints.
