  • RIR/Regular Confusion.

    Hi,
I filed for labor from Detroit, Michigan and got a PD of 28th June 2000. My file was moved to Chicago on the 28th of Feb 2001. I called Chicago and the lady there told me that my case is Regular filing and it will take a long time. My lawyer insists that it was filed under RIR. Now, Detroit is processing cases of 11/99 in regular and 07/2000 for RIR as per the processing times. My lawyer also insists that there were no questions or correspondence from Detroit regarding my application. He says it is probably human error and will be corrected. Is he correct? Can Chicago classify a case from RIR to regular without sending out a request for additional docs. I am completely confused as to what is going on? Could you please help me. Is there anything that I can do? If this is an error how much time to correct it. If it is not what are my options.
Two of my colleagues filed with me and have the same PD. One got his file moved to Chicago on 12th Jan and got certification on 30th April. The other's file moved to Chicago on 31st Jan and his case was approved on 18th May. Our job descriptions are different. The funny thing is that when I send an email status enquiry to the DOL chicago system with our employer ID, my case shows up as received ny them on 8th March but my colleagues cases do not show up at all. Does this system only report Regular (non RIR) cases or am I missing something.
    Thanks a lot.
