  • Timing and employer implciations

I am in process of discussing with my company about green card processing. I understand its impossible for anyone to give exact timeline but generally how long does it take for each step. I am based in Houston.
Also what are the implications for the company, if any. In my view:
    • Cost - $6-7k over 3-5 years for me and my wife, upfront costs expected ~$3-3.5k
    • Time commitment – None beyond hiring lawyers
    • Responsibility - None
    • Legal - None
    • Other – None. No change in working relationship. Green card processing will take its course and continue on the side

    I'd appreciate any help.

    What's the question?

The other bullets look great but do not make sense.

    Time line

    1) PERM - 2-12 Month or more

    Responsibility - Employer's
    Cost - Employer's
    Legal - I don't know
    Other - None

    2) I-140 - 2-12 Months

    Responsibility - Either Or
    Cost - Either Or
    Legal - I don't know
    Other - None

    3) I-485 and Others - Contingent

    Responsibility - Either Or
    Cost - Either Or
    Legal - I don't know
    Other - None

    I had fun.

        How to convince boos

I have asked the same question on another thread too. I wil appreciate your help.
My boss has this notion that he will have to sign papers that the company could not find any USC to do my job which he is not comfortable with. He is concerned about libaility issue with respect to him signing specifically and company sponsoring in general. I explained him following the procedure should be enough but he is not convinced. How can I put those concerns to rest?

          Find another employer soon.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
