Hi,
I would like some advice on the Greencard process, as I am totally confused.
I hold a Ph.D. and am a European citizen (non-retrogressed). I am employed as Assistant Professor at US University. Been in US for 12 months on an H1B visa.
My employer has kick-started the Greencard process, by applying for PERM certification. They have suggested that as soon as PERM is approved, they will apply for I-140, and after that is approved, then for the I-485 to gain EB2 certification.
I am wondering whether this is a standard method for applying for a Greencard, and how long the process will roughly take? Should I be doing something in the meantime (e.g. collecting documents, registering somewhere, trying an alternative form of application etc)?
Thanks so much!
