Need help on employee agreement

Hi

My employes has signed an agreement from me , that I must work with him for 1 year. If I leave in between I have to pay him H1 expenses + 5000 dollors.

Are these agreements legal ? My employer is indian company. I have another job opportunity and I wish to resign from my current company.

Can some guide me on what could be the consequences if I leave in between ?
