  • How to prove the experience for PERM

    Hi
    I think immigration lawyers are asking various kinds of documents for proving the authenticity of the experience with previous employers.

    My lawyer has given me a document which lists the skillsets. He asked me to get the signature on that document by my former manager or HR from my previous company on the company letter head.

    However my previous manager, who still works in that company, has reservations on signing the document himself as per companies policy and HR wants to give a general document (not a document given by lawyer) regarding my experience in that company

    In this circumstance, can I furnish below documents
    (a) Get the letter signed from a colleague of mine who worked in that company in the same team and get it notarized
    (b) Get the relieving letter of my colleague to prove that he has infact worked with me in the same company during the period I worked

    Is there any information in 'Department of labor' site on how we can prove the experience from pervious employers?

    If your manager is having problem in signing in the company letter pad try to get one detailed exp letter on a plain paper and get it notorized + one letter from HR as you have mentioned on company letter pad which shows you worked on xxx to yyyy or get it signed by manager on a plain paper and attach one of his business cards ...

    I am not sure on those you have listed but this will work as my employer told us to get this ....

      As long as whatever document you get from your previous employer includes at least:

      * dates of employment
      * description of tasks performed

      on company letterhead, signed by your former direct manager or an HR representative - you should be good. Of course your lawyer would prefer to have it exactly like s/he likes. Not gonna happen.
