Schengen Visa Insurance for Italy

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have a few questions about securing medical insurance to satisfy the Schengen visa requirements. My wife and I (both aged 56) will be in Italy from 8/29/08 to 5/13/09, where I will be on a study sabbatical. We will continue our US insurance through BC/BS of New Mexico during our time abroad.

* What would be the best option for us in terms of supplemental insurance while we are in Italy?

* Can we be assured that occasional visits back to the USA during this period, perhaps longer than 15 days, would not terminate your insurance coverage (we would be covered under our existing policy during the time on American soil)?

Thank you for your reply. I agree that Atlas International seems the best of the lot.

I understand that the Atlas policy will remain in force through the specified period if, for instance, my wife were to come back to the USA for a month at Christmas during which she would be covered by our existing U.S. policy which we intend to keep active.

As long as you had paid the premiums for the entire duration, your policy would remain active.
