Transit VISA for London

I am an Indian citizen, currently studying in US and on F1 Visa.
My US VISA is valid till 2nd February 2014.

I am traveling from USA to India on 14th December 2013.
In India, I will get my VISA extended, and then return to USA to resume my
studies.
I will be returning to USA on 17th January 2014.

During my travel, my flight is via London.
The layover time at London is about 4 hours during departure from USA and
5.15 hours during return to USA.

please suggest me if i need a Transit VISA for London in this
situation?

You do not need transit visa if you are not going out from the airport zone. If you are taking your connecting flight from another Airport in UK then you need to apply for this in advance.
