Time required tp process Schengen Visa

Hello experts,

I need to travel to Luxembourg on business in last week of Jan 2014 so I need to apply for Schengen Visa. But the problem is that I have H1B stamping on 28th Dec and I will get back the passport on 1st or 2nd Jan. After that if I apply for Schengen Visa will I have enough time to get it stamped by 10th Jan?

One more option I have is to apply for Schengen before H1B stamping (28th Dec) but I am not sure if I apply for Schengen now than will I get my Passport back by 28th. So I dont want to take that risk hence want to apply for Schengen after getting H1B stamped.

Please suggest what should I do.

First, this will be better if you choose to apply French visa after getting your H1B stamping, as French visa process takes around 2 weeks time.
Second, if you want to apply French visa in India then you should approach to Belgium embassy for this. But if you wish to apply through French embassy in India then they will ask you to apply in French embassy in USA.
