Schengen Visa or Long Term D Visa (Estonia)

Hi,
I am an Indian, with J1 in US.
My DS2019 valid until March 2015, and visa valid until May 2014.
I need to travel to Estonia, can I get schengen or other visa to enter schengen from US in this situation.
Otherwise, I need to go to India first get the visa and fly to Estonia.

Infact, I am not coming back to US. So please suggest if there is a way to fly directly so that I can save a trip to India.

You can get a Schengen visa from the US. Contact the embassy/consulate. Are you going for a visit? For that, you need a Schengen (C) visa. A national visa (D) is necessary if you intend to get a residence permit there.
