  • hotel reservations for scehngen visa, multiple countries

    Hi all,
I am an Indian national residing in United states on a work visa and have a full time job. I am planning on going for a Eurotrip in September for the first two weeks. I am planning on applying in the dutch consulate for the same. One of the requirement as per the consulate website (rsonac.org) is that the applicant show hotel reservations for the period of stay in the Schengen area. My port of entry and exit is going to be Amsterdam. But I am planning on visiting multiple countries during that period. I have various questions regarding the same:

    1) Do I have to show hotel reservations for each of the countries that I plan on visiting or just Netherlands?
    2) After I receive the schengen visa stamp on my passport, is the reservation still required to be shown at the port of entry or can i decide to choose to stay elsewhere and cancel the previous reservation that I showed in myvisa interview? In other words, is it ok to NOT have any reservations when I enter amsterdam?

    Any help appreciated,
    Thanks.

Depends on how easy or hard it would be to get all the reservations, if you don't have everything pre booked because you will be touring or backpacking then you won't need to show accommodation for every single night. Just convince them that NL is your main destination (or first destination incase there is no clear main destination) and that you will have accommodation there by showing a confirmed reservation.

You may have may asked to show the border guards that you still meet all the visa requirements, but you should be alright since moving in in a few days from Spain to Switzerland is very much possible and plausible. If you found an other hotel after you got your visa, that should be alright just show the border guard that new hotel reservation/booking if asked for.
