Multiple entry visa - length of stay vs first port of entry

Hi,

My question is regarding which embassy to get my multiple entry schengen visa from. I hold an Indian passport and am a US green card holder.
I plan to make 2 separate trips to the schengen region within a 60 day period
First trip on Apr 1
Port of entry Berlin - and a 10 day trip through central europe. I am not staying more than 2-3 days in any of the countries.

Second trip on May 3
Port of entry Spain - staying there for 8 days and then a Mediterranean cruise.

My question - should I pick Spain as the consulate for the visa, because I am staying there the longest? Or should I pick Germany because thats my first port of entry?

I would apply via Germany, as that would be your main objective for your first holiday. But tell them about your future plans too so that they will either give you a mulitple entry visa or if they believe you need to apply via Spain (who tent to be more difficult with visas and multiple entry judging from experiences people share online).
