Schengen Visa from Spain but landing in Switzerland (Zurich)

My son in flying into Europe and landing in Zurich. Unfortunately he did not apply for appointment in time and now Switzerland's visa appointment is unavailable prior to his travel date. His itinerary includes travel to Spain and Italy also. He got an appointment at the consulate of Spain. If he gets the Visa from Spain, can he fly to Zurich?
