German Visitor visa... need help

Hey,

I have quite a few question and would appreciate any helpful answers in this regard. Here I go ...

(1) Is there any particular format for the Letter of invitation ( I will be applying for a visitor visa family/ friends) ? And what are the documents that I will be needing from my family/ friends in Germany? Also, can I take faxed documents to consulate?

(2) Also, What is the format for employee reference letter ?

(3) My visa status: I got recently approved for my H1b. I will be going to Mexico for stamping on Dec 3rd. But the problem is I have to go to German consulate by Nov 3rd week as I will be leaving on Dec 13th for Germany. Will this be any problem in issuing me visitor visa ?

(4) How long will it take for the German consulate to issue the visa ?

(5) Regarding bank statement: Does this mean that I need to get a letter from my bank stating my account balance or do I have to take a copy my transaction statement ?

I would really appreciate if anyone of you can help me out with the above questions. I have contacted the German Consulate in NYC, but they have been of least help.
