Applying at a different embassy to country of destination

Hi,

We are based in the UK. My wife is Russian, and has UK residence. We have booked a holiday to Spain for the end of March. She needs a Schengen visa, and based on past experience with other embassies, we thought we had plenty of time to get it sorted. Turns out however that she can't get an appointment until the beginning of April!!!

So my question is - can she apply the embassy of another Schengen country (e.g. Germany, France etc) and use that visa to get into Spain?

I understand that you are supposed to apply to the embassy of the country of your 'main destination' i.e. Spain, but what's to say we won't go to Germany/France etc sometime in the next few months as well? Can't we just say that we are going to the other country etc after we come back from Spain?

Possible, but ...

... the way it's done is something that I can't put in print here.

Look at the requirements and think about it, you're bound to get the idea on how to apply at say French consulate and then go to Spain.
