  • 90 Day rule for American Passport Holder

    Hello,

I am looking at your website but can not find the exact information I need.

I am an American passport holder, staying here in Germany 90 days. While I know holders of a multiple entry Schengen visa, may leave and return any number of times within the 180-day period, and the combined stay within the region must not total more than 90 days, does that same rule apply to me (with my American passport), as I am here only with my passport and not with a Schengen visa?

More specifically, Once I return to the US, I very likely will soon be called back to Germany again on a follow-up job interview. If I have already spent a total of 90 days in Germany, must I wait another 90 days upon my return to the USA before I am allowed to enter Germany again for yet another 90 days?... Or once I am back in the USA, may I return to Germany almost immediately for another 90 day stay?

Your reply will be great appreciated.

    1. That rule does not apply to you.
    2. You should not go back immediately.

and what about a renewal of the 90 days for an american?

I am an American living in Germany on a tourist visa. I would like to extend my stay for another 90 days. Is this possible? Could I go to a consulate in Germany to get a visa?
