Short Stay Schengan visa(France) by mail

I am an Indian citizen on valid H1 B visa living in US . I am planning to stopover in France for 5 days on my way to India.My travel date is in Oct 2 week.
I have sent my Short Stay Schengan visa application and all the documents by mail yesterday.

I am worried if I will get response back from them in time or if I would have to go for a personal interview. Did anyone recently apply for short stay visa by mail ? How long does it actually take ? Do they ask foreign nationals in US to come for personal interview.Please help!
