Schengen Visa

Dear Sir/Madam:

I live in Chicago and will be traveling to UK next on British Visa. I am an Ethiopian citizen and permanent resident of the US. I would like to take a train to Paris for a day and was wondering if I needed a schengen visa. Please let me know the requirements. Thanks in advance,
