Does he need to acquire a Schengen Visa for this trip?

It is a trip for the International Primatological Society Congress which is meeting in Tokyo Sep. 8 – Sep. 18. Not sure if considered a trip for Study, which I believe it would be, or if it is considered business. Please advise.

Your prompt response is greatly appreciated as time has grown short and he has not gotten any visas yet.

What is the procedure for him to acquire the required paperwork?
