I am a Ukraine citizen married to an American and living in America for
3 years now.
I have an American green card but no American passport .
I have a Ukraine passport because I am still Ukraine citizen only.
Problem:
Recently, I intended to fly from Miami to Paris to Budapest with final
destination Odessa ,Ukraine.
My connecting flights were only about 2-3 hours in each connecting
country and I had no intent to leave the premis of any airport until
home in Odessa.
The Budapest passport control authorities would not let me board my
plane to Odessa demanding I needed Shenghen visa. I was denied boarding
even though I showed my final destination Odessa ticket and Ukraine
passport.
I have called attorneys to inquire about the Shenghen visa, I've gone to
the local Fl passport authorities, I've called the American embassy,
Ukraine embassy and consulate in Washington DC and referenced many
websites to try to accurately determine what I actually need to acquire
to travel back and forth from my home in America to my home in Odessa.
NO one seems to know or agree on what I must obtain.
Some say I need the Shenghen visa.
Some say I need only an airport transit visa.
Some say I only need a special visa for France or Germany transit stops.
Some say I need absolutely no airport transit visa or Shenghen visa if I
show my tickets to final destination in Odessa.
Some say I only need airport transit visa if I connect to my country
(Ukraine) using more than one Shenghen european country (Ex-Paris and
Hungary)
There is an added problem that I'm instructed I must apply in person to
a Ukraine consulate office to interview/obtain the required visa(s). A
trip to Washington DC from Fl is not exactly inexpensive. Furthermore,
the Ukraine laison told me I do not need any Shenghen visa or airport
transit visa so no point in going to Washington.
I am absolutely frustrated as to what to do and how to go about ghetting
what I need to travel.
Please help. IO've been trying to obtain what I need for two months now
and NO ONE seems to know what's going on.
Thank You for your prompt response if possible
