Do I need Transit Visa?

Hello,

I am travelling from Orlando, USA to New Delhi, India on 20th Dec 2010. I am an Indian citizen with a valid L1 visa of United states. I wanted to know if I need a transit visa for UK, since I have to change airports (Gatwick to Heathrow and vice versa for my return travel). I will be accompanied by my wife (also an Indian Citizen) with valid L2 visa of United States and my son and he is a US citizen. If we are required to have a trasit visa of UK then can I get it on the airport itself and what is the process for getting one.
