Visitor Visa B2 Query

Hi i have applied for B1/B2 visa category for myself & my parents but the sole purpose of our travel is B2 (Tourist).
Will we be denied the visa because we don't have any business purpose for our trip ?
What should we answer to the Visa officer if he/she happens to question the same?...

I wanted to attend conference in USA.. for which i applied for USA B1/B2 Visa... and its got rejected. I am not sure where i went wrong.

My 11 year old niece is getting her B1/B2 renewed and need not appear for the interview - she can use the Drop box facility. Should I still send supporting documents like letter of invitation, sponsorship letter, my birth certificate, letter to consulate etc
