Does the contiguous country rule still apply if staying in Canada for over 30 days?

My mother-in-law is currently in the USA on a B2 visitor visa. Her I-94 expires at the end of April 2018. If she goes to Canada to visit my family for 5 months, are these 5 months counted towards her 6 month stay in the USA as if she's overstaying her visit in the USA? According to the contiguous...

Can I use AVR - Automatic Visa Re-validation Process (L2 to H4 to F1)?

Currently I am in US as a F1 Student and I am planning to travel to Canada next month for a week with my husband (His status is H1 with valid Visa Stamp).

Initially I entered US on L2 Visa Stamp in 2012 (valid till 2017), then did my Change of Status to H4 on 2013. And finally in 2014...
