Employment eligibility for valid GC EAD with expired I94 (extension applied)

Hi,

My wife's L2 Visa and I94 extension is under process as her they were expired. However, she has received GC EAD and please let me know if she is eligible to work based on GC EAD.

Thanks for viewing this post. I heard that consulate makes enquiry for your current employment for H1B visa. is this true? if yes pls let me know probably at what stage this enquiry happens as HR would get to know about this enquiry.
