Approved H1B without stamping - Layoff

I was on L1 Visa. Later my H1 Visa got approved and filed change of status. Currently I am on H1B without visa stamping, I heard my employer is going to terminate me due to mass layoff in coming month.Can I find new job with approved H1b I 797C without stamping . ?
