F1 to L2 conversion

I am on L1A visa and my wife is on F1 OPT. I want to convert her to L2 with EAD. How difficult/complex is this process? Can we do this change of status application on our own or do we need an immigration attorney for this?

How long does it usually take for the change of status to happen?...
