H1B+H4 stamping together and no surname in wife's passport

My H1B expired in January end so I came to India, got married and now my employer has renewed my H1B and has sent me the
relevant documents, (I797, copy of I-129 and LCA). So, I will be going for my H1B stamping and for my wife's H4 as
well (she has never been to US).

On the US passport last name is considered as surname. When I applied for OCI they asked for the surname and I thought since I do not have any surname I left it blank. I put my complete name in the name field. Now I'm thinking that my US passport will have last name as surname and OCI will not have...
