Claiming outisde US days towards max out date of H1b (remotely working scenario)

Hello,

I know that any days outside US wouldn't be counted towards 6 years of H1B stay. But when a candidate is outside the US to attend a family emergency but works remotely from home, would those days be claimed outside the US or not when calculating max out date?
