How close to your H1B stamp date can you enter the US at Port of entry

Hi All,

I am hoping to get some clarity on travel to india and back.

My Current I 797 Is valid Until September 2018. However, during my last visa stamping, I got Stamp until 11 Jan 2018. (Most probably because my Passport is valid until December 2017. I have a new one now)...
