Translating birth certificate, property deed, etc for visitor visa applications

Context: B2 visa for parents

My birth certificate and my father's property deed are both in native language. Do we need to translate these documents in English for visitor visa applications? If yes, is there a preferred process / format for translations?

A few questions...

1. My mother's passport has her surname entered with given name (surname field is blank). DS 160 does not allow me to move forward with an empty surname. can I enter her actual surname there and just her first name in given name?
