  • Eligibility- 30 months physical presence

    Hallo
I intend to apply for citizenship on 30 June 2015. My green card date is 15 January 2015.
Should I count 30 months physical presence requirement from date of green card or from preceding five years upto date of filing N 400 i. e. 30 months requirement from 1 July 2010 to 30 June 2015?
Your suggestion will be very helpful in understanding the process.
    Thanks.

You have a ways to go, Amar.

    Start by reading http://www.uscis.gov/us-citizenship/...naturalization

Then read the two Policy Manual links at the bottom of that page

Assuming you file your N-400 on 6/30/2015, you need to have been physically present in the United States for 913 days during the period between 6/30/2010 and 6/30/2015.

In addition, you need to have maintained "continuous residency" throughout that same period.

          Thanks inadmissible!

You have practically clarified my doubts. I have visited web pages as suggested by you and noted more precisely.

And one more doubt! I will complete 913 days as on 6/30/2015. Can I take benefit of 3 months early filing and submit N-400 immediately?

You can file 90 days before your 5 year continuous residence requirement IF AND ONLY IF you have already met the 30 month physical presence requirement.

One of the requirement for N-400 is to reside in the district or state in which one is applying for citizenship for the last at least 3 months.

I noticed this requirement after I applied for N-400. I was in the state where I applied for, about a month; but I was in the USA for more than past 5 years.

I now have received the interview letter.

Should I expect them that they will object on the residency requirement?
