  • Changing address (state) after the interview is scheduled

    Hello,

As title says, how will you deal with USCIS if you recieve the letter for interview in current address (state A) but the date when interview will take place you will be permantently to a new state (state B)?

    Experiences/suggestions are welcomed.

    Thanks.

Shall you come to the state A when interview is scheduled and tell upfront to the officer that you moved out of state?

I dont think this scenario is rare.

    Thanks.
This was my exact situation when I had my interview last Friday. It was not a problem, we did not mention it upfront but the IO asked about it when he looked at our drivers licenses.

Thanks, for the sake of time (both USCIS and applicant) should be OK to come to the state when interview is scheduled, but might not be correct in terms of rules.

If IO did not noticed from your driving license and did not ask, yet you will need to update the address in system to receive GC?

We don't plan to change the address until we receive the GC or we sell the property ( it is currently being renovated).

After the IO learned that you are not living anymore in the address you submitted to USCIS, did he/she asked you to which address should send the green card?

No he did not ask. I continue to receive mail at that address and monitor it daily with informed delivery. A close friend picks up the mail once a week and forwards whats not junk to us.

Thank you. I am surprised that IO did not comment on the fact that you moved and did not change the address. I see you dont have motivation to change address with USCIS as you have a friend who can forword your mail, so you dont miss anything.

If this applied to me, I will use mail forword from USPS and change address with USCIS.

He did ask about it - told him it was our second home which it is technically until we sell it.
