I am only just starting this TOC process for the interview, so take this with a grain of salt, but I'm separating "Shared Residence" and "Commingling of Finances/Assets", so I'm putting our lease in the former and our joint account statements in the latter.

Right now, my (very) rough draft goes something like:

    I. Civil Documents
    a. USC Docs
    i. Birth certificate
    ii. Passport
    iii. Etc., etc.
    b. Spouse Docs
    i. Birth certificate w/translation
    ii. Passport
    iii. Etc., etc.
    II. Proof of Legal Marriage
    a. Marriage license
    b. Marriage certificate
    c. Marriage docs from husband's country
III. Personal Finances / Financial Support
    a. My income stuff
    b. His income stuff
IV. Proof of Commingling of Finances/Assets
    a. Joint tax return
    b. Joint bank account
    c. Joint Amazon membership
    d. Etc., etc.
    V. Proof of Shared Residence
    a. Lease
    b. Utilities
    c. Driver's license showing same address
    VI. Bona Fide Marital Relationship
    a. Legal Stuff
    i. POA / Healthcare Directive
ii. Health insurance / life insurance beneficiary status
    iii. Etc., etc.
    b. Photos
    i. Trip A
    ii. Trip B
iii. Us & friends & family, events, etc.
    iv. Etc., etc.
    c. Communication
    i. Texts
    ii. ********
    iii. Etc., etc.
    d. Other
    i. Cards to both of us
    ii. Etc., etc.
    e. Affidavits by friends & family
    VII. Sealed Medical Exam

Hi ember. Thanks. May I ask how and where did you get the healthcare directive? And do you think it will be too late for me to get it because my interview date is on Sept 10?

Sure, it was pretty easy. I don't remember exactly which one I went with, but I looked at both powerofattorney.com (clicked on my state, MO, and then scrolled down to the Medical POA form) and mobar.org > Public > Legal Guides & Forms > Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare > Read More > The Missouri Bar Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care and Health Care Directive

I think if you google your state + "Power of Attorney for Health Care" you should find some! Your state's Bar should also have these forms online

It's never too late! They probably won't ask about the date but if they do you just say "it's something we've been meaning to do, we just only now got around to it but we both feel it's very important to have"

Yes, we had both POA Financial and POA Medical notarized. One at a bank, one at a law firm that shares my husband's office building. We also had two witnesses.

I explained in emerald's thread that I think it is better to have high level "sections".

cohabit/cominngle/mail-same addy/other-proof... as for the documents identity/etc that can be totally other section since you do not need the joint evidence and the requirements mixed.

Also where is your 2017 taxes filing?

hi there. isn't it the 2017 taxes filing the same as form 1040? We didnt file jointly because we got married in January.

Ahh okay that makes sense. Get the tax transcript now since USCIS prefers those.

Ok. Our lawyer said that we don't need affidavits from friends/family because we have enough evidence that proves of bonafide marriage. However, I kind of want to have it ready just in case. Do you think it will best to get affidavits? Thanks Cali2018

Does anyone have a sample affidavit that i can follow? Thanks

I don't have a sample on hand (can probably find one on this forum), but they should include the following:

                      Date
                      Name of person writing statement
                      Address of that person
Status (i.e. citizen, lpr - and I'm sure it goes without saying, but please don't use a statement by someone without status, that could cause trouble for them)

                      Dear USCIS Officer, (or Sir/Madam)
Nice intro like "I am so-and-so, writing in support of immigrant name's application to adjust status based on xxx" or something.
Description of how the person knows you & how long
Description of the relationship (i.e. are you close, family, friends)
Description of the relationship to spouse, if there is one (i.e. does the person know both of you independently?)
Description of how they perceive your relationship with your spouse (i.e. very happy, they support each other financially, emotionally, etc.), including examples in particular (i.e. he supported her dream of becoming a firefighter by taking primary responsibility of the children, she supported his dream of starting a business by being the primary breadwinner for a few years, etc.)
Nice ending statement like "I can attest to their true and faithful love to one another" or something.

Signed & notarized (does not ~have~ to be notarized, but carries more weight than a signature alone)

Nicer than that ^^^ but you get the idea

EDIT: Also something attesting to the truthfulness is good, but not ~required~, like "I swear under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true to the best of my knowledge and belief" or similar.

Lawyers do not like lots of paperwork, as well its easier for them to assess it that way for themselves.
You can add the affidavits at the end, but they do not hold much value so do not waste a ton of time on them. Truly if your friends/family too busy and cannot get it notarized do not worry about it.

Ember gave you a great template...mine is basically the same.

Does anyone have a sample affidavit that i can follow? Thanks

It will be nice to have one, there is nothing more than enough, overwhelm the IO with documents. I got a sample online and tailored it to my story. it was just one and from my sister with pictures to back it up.

Thank you guys for your inputs. I appreciate it. I have 10 days until our interview. I also got my medical in a sealed envelope today. I have 2 more question guys. How many statement of accounts of joint savings/checking account and credit card should i bring? The second one is, is it okay to have 1 format of affidavit from your family/friends for 2 persons? Thanks again
