Thank you all the information on this forum. We could not have gotten 10 year visitor visa without immihelp's help. This was a Telugu interview. The Telugu lady translated what the US immigration officer was asking.
1. Who is sponsoring you?
A:- My son and Daughter-in-law
2. Did he send a invitation letter to the consulate?
A: YES
Once she answered the question they asked the two files my mom was carrying. ( One for India docs and other for the US docs) With POSTIT notes.
They skimmed through the docs and told my mother that she got the visa and told her she can stay for only 6 months, at a time. Thats it.
A lady before my mom got rejected it seems.I think we just got lucky.
Here is how it all unfolded. We sent all the interview questions in this forum and my mother made sure she could answer all the questions before she attended the interview.
1. Sent all the documents of mine and my wives documents.
a. Invitation Letter for mom - my ( son's) letter
b. Letter to the consulate general
c. Tentative itenirary - list and dates of all the places we plan to take her.
d. I -134 afidavit of support. Notarized. A letter from Washington Mutual with the whole years deposits on Checking and Saving accounts. - They were very helpful in this aspect.
e. W2 returns of past three years.
e. 3 years tax returns of my wife and mine.
f. Bank statements.
g. Employment letters- Busniess cards as well.
h. Passport Copies & Green Card copies.
i. Flight Itinerary.
Indian documents
My mother is a house wife. So
1. Fathers retirement documents
2. Property papers.
3. CA statement.
With the new rules in place, hope it will ease the appointments. We had taked ours atleast 4 months before.
Good Luck For y'all - God Bless.
