Travelling outside US with change of status filed (from H4 to H1)

Hi,

I am on H4 visa now and filed the change of status to H1B. But I have not received any updates about the change of status. Can I travel outside US in this situation ?. Will my change of status to H1B be denied if I travel? What happens if my change of status is approved while I am outside the country?. Please help.

---- It is always advisable not to travel outside the US whenever you have applied for a Cos irrespective of whether it is from H4 to H1 or H1 to H4 and any visa application for transfer/extension/renewal

---- The application may not be denied but you may not recive an I-94 along with your approval notice. This forces you to go out of the US, get a vis stamped on your Passport and teh return to the US

---- Thus if you go out of the US after filing an application you may have to travel twice once for a vacation adn then secondly for a visa interview
